Meet Adrianne Roggenbuck, Creative Teaching Champion and BPG Trainer

Before discovering instructor-led, participant-centered training, "I used to worry about having to talk for eight hours while delivering training," explained Adrianne Roggenbuck, training consultant at The Bob Pike Group. "I learned that participant-centered training allows me to talk less because the participants are doing more active learning. My voice is saved and the participants retain so much more."

Since joining The Bob Pike Group, Adrianne has championed Designing Lessons that SCORE, one of our workshops specifically for teachers. “I enjoy working with educators to improve their teaching techniques in order to increase student learning and retention in their classrooms,” says Adrianne, a former teacher.

After 19 years in the classroom, Adrianne’s passion for learner-centered excellence took her to the Professional Development Alliance in Joliet, Ill., where she was responsible for all aspects of designing and delivering learner-centered, engaging training programs in a variety of subject areas including standards alignment, reading, and writing. She then joined the ranks of trainer and educator advocate at The Bob Pike Group in 2007. "Training and consulting is my venue for helping others grow and hone their craft," she said. "I have the opportunity to meet new people and to see the world, as my work often takes me out of the state or even the country."

"I have had several clients tell me that I have changed their lives," she said. "One lady who came from another country to attend a Boot Camp was so inspired that she wants to become an expert in participant-centered training so she can spread the word in her own country." She also has specialized in Presentation Skills to help other presenters “overcome their fears and succeed as public speakers. I can see the growth in every participant's performance during the three days of the class and that is extremely rewarding.” Recently, Adrianne has been working closely with UOP Honeywell and Carmeuse Lime and Stone to deliver multiple, on-going training throughout their organizations over several years. "I am extremely proud of their commitment to change and the measures they have taken to improve their training programs based on what they have learned from The Bob Pike Group," she said.

On a personal note, Adrianne loves her life! "I have two fabulous children, the love of a wonderful man, good health and the perfect job," she shared. A few things on her bucket list include visiting Germany and South Africa and doing a tandem sky dive when she turns 70--a long time from now!

Adrianne has co-authored two books (this one and one for technical training) in The Bob Pike Group's SCORE series of books. SCORE stands for Super Closers, Openers, Revisiters, Energizers.

Adrianne will be facilitating sessions on humor in training, flipchart art, and building trust in a skeptical world at our annual conference in September.
