Creative Training Conference a Hit in Japan

Dynamic Human Capital has something to celebrate as it begins a new year. In December, the Japanese training company held its own participant-centered training conference with rave reviews.

The idea was planted several years ago when Ayako Nakamura attended The Bob Pike Group Conference, held every September. "I was there at the networking reception and appreciated that we all shared the same goals and spoke the same language although most of us

met there for the first time," Ayako said. "It was so comfortable and accepting."

After getting feedback that Boot Camp graduates wanted more opportunities to learn and share ideas, Ayako went ahead and scheduled the first conference for this last December. The inaugural ev

ent had 40 participants, many of whom had gone through Train-the-Trainer Boot Camp with Ayako, while a few were new to DHC.

During the event, Sony Seminconductor and SoftBank Group received the first ever The Bob Pike Awards Japan 2013 for their application of creative training techniques in their organizations and the outstanding results.

Overall ratings were 4.9 percent out of 5, Ayako reported. What worked? Everything. "The content we prepared, the environment we were able to create," Ayako said. "We were able to model what we train." She also credited the trainers for the outstanding results.

Some comments Ayako received from attendees were, "It was really fun and much more than I expected. I’ve gotten motivated and am committed to applying what I have learned. It was so great to learn from Bob face-to-face!" while another said, "It was all very practical, and I can apply [the techniques] immediately. It was also meaningful that I learned the attitude of a great trainer."

Conference sessions included Bob Pike doing "Capture the Content" and "Becoming a Master Trainer," Ayako doing "60 Seconds to Success" and Masako Yamamura doing "Transfer of Training."
