Computer Quiz Carousel

If you do any kind of technical training such as software training, revisiting the information is critical if you want to cut down on work improperly done or calls to the help desk! Have your learners get on this carousel to revisit content in a fun and energizing way.

This and more than 49 other technical training activities can be found in our newest release SCORE! Super Closers, Openers, Revisiters, Energizers for Technical Training, volume 4, being released January 10, 2014.

Description: Learners create questions for other learners as all learners move from computer to computer (as on a carousel) to answer the questions.

Objective: To assess knowledge of content previously delivered

Time: 15 minutes

Audience: Any technical training audience in a computer lab

Group Size: Any size group, as the questions are generated individually

Materials: Computer with Internet access for each participant

Process:

  1. Subdivide the larger group and assign a segment of content to each smaller group or individual. Participants generate two to three review questions covering key concepts for their assigned segment of content and type them into their computers. Encourage them to create questions that start with why, how, or where. This will restrict the number of yes/no questions generated.
  2. When the questions are completed, have participants move to the computer to their right and type in the answers to as many questions as they can in two minutes. Then have them move to the next computer and allow them two minutes again to read the answers already written and add to or refine them.
  3. Continue the carousel until all content areas have been covered. Participants then return to their own computers.
  4. Each participant checks the answers to the questions that he or she generated and presents any misconceptions or errors to the large group.
  5. Questions and answers are then emailed to the instructor for final inspection and may be used to generate an assessment for a future class.

Debrief: Thank the group for their participation and ask them to email their documents to you.

Variations: This activity may be used at the end of each segment of content rather than waiting until all of the content has been delivered.
