Collective Wisdom

How can you continue the learning after the class is done? Here is an activity that gets participants listening and sharing during class that can be used and built on after class:

As the class is proceeding, a “Collective Wisdom” page is being circulated. On occasion, as the trainer, you pause for Words of Wisdom from individuals or teams. As new learning is shared, participants share the role of scribe and record what they learned on the “Collective Wisdom” page. At the end of the class, the trainer agrees to copy the “Collective Wisdom” page and mail to each learner in 30, 60, or 90 days.

Bonus idea: This can also be done as a chain letter, traveling from one learner at a time with each adding an application idea they have thought of or done since. When the trainer gets the complete list, the trainer copies it and then redistributes to all learners.

Variation: As an alternative, post a “Collective Wisdom” chart and supply each group with sticky notes. As individuals gain insight, they can write it down and post it on the chart. Encourage people to visit the chart during the break to see what they might add.
