Training in Paradise: Korea Leadership Center

The Korea Learning Resort is located one hour away from central Seoul. Located in the rolling and lush tree-covered hills of Anseong City, the beautiful training facility is part of Ken Gimm and Korea Leadership Center's vision to train Koreans and their organizations to be global leaders-and using participant-centered techniques to have an international impact.

KLC is a training company with a mission to enable individuals and organizations to succeed. Ken Gimm founded KLC in 1994 with the intent to "help the Koreans to learn the things not taught well by school, home and society," according to the company's motto. The company's clients range dramatically in age from those in kindergarten to senior citizens, and from farmers to the President!

The learning resort has training rooms, office buildings to accommodate over 100 employees, and houses for staff members. But having a fabulous facility, while very helpful, is in itself not the answer to great training.

"It's obvious that the technique is an essential part of training and should be very creative and effective," Gimm said. In 2001 and 2002, Ken Gimm invited Bob Pike to Korea and asked his help in realizing Gimm's vision. Bob Pike agreed and signed a partnership agreement in 2003. Since then, the KLC has used creative training techniques for most of its trainings and Research-based Creative Teaching Strategies in many school systems.

"Ken and KLC have been leaders among all of our international licensees," said Pike. "The first foreign-language translation of the Creative Training Techniques Handbook was in Korean. Ken was the first international licensee to achieve master trainer status, and he has pioneered RCTS outside the U.S. He is a valued and respected partner."

Since the firm began using The Bob Pike Group's participant-centered techniques, KLC has enjoyed a more than 30 percent annual growth. The KLC was twice awarded the BPG licensee of the year award in 2010 and 2011. "I feel strongly that the more BPG training techniques are used, the easier and deeper the learning global citizens can enjoy," Gimm said.
