Train-the-Trainer: Color Me Learning

Stephen Hudak, one of our ezine readers, submitted this simple idea which works to accelerate learning.

“I conduct some training that is quite technical,” Hudak says. “We have step-by-step lessons which a trained or even partially incompetent monkey could follow. However, I have found that those students that take good notes on my discussion advance more rapidly than those who don’t.”

“Our computer software is called ‘VP Command.’ Thus, I have created ‘The VP Command Coloring Book’ which contains hand-drawn sketches of the basic information I present on a flip-chart. I also provide crayons or colored pencils (what good is a coloring book without stuff to color with, right?). The right-hand page contains my basic sketch and the left-hand page is blank so they can make their own notes and follow along,” Hudak said.

Below are three illustrations for this tool. The first is the back cover of the coloring book which states its purpose. The second is the left-hand blank page and the third contains Hudak’s drawings.
