An Attendee’s View of the Annual Conference

The 23rd Annual Creative Training Techniques® Conference was in full swing last month. As a first time attendee, I thought I’d share a few articles on the people I had a chance to meet. Over the next few weeks, check back for a Q&A with some of the attendees. We'd love to hear your story as well.

Tell Me a Little About Yourself

Connie - I work as a 3D Lead at Nike and am a trainer of technical software. Something people may be surprised to hear is that I live on a farm in the country, an hour from the Nike headquarters, and raise beef cattle.  With technology constantly changing, we have a continuous need for technical training and process improvements.

What brought you to The Bob Pike Conference?

I was looking for a more engaging way to train that resulted in better application when participants were back on the job. I have a lot of technical information that participants need to not only understand but be able to apply by completing particular projects. The Instructional Design Workshop appealed to me because I need a repeatable process that gets the engagement and results required.

What’s One Takeaway that You’d Like to Share?

One of my favorite tips I learned which I plan to use in my next training session is the barriers and benefits exercise. It gives participants a chance to tell me what I want to tell them. They are given the opportunity to tell me what is and isn’t working for them with the software we’re discussing. This gives me a chance to focus on the things they really need to know.
