Liz Wheeler Admittedly, Bob Pike is a “collector” of things, having thrown very little away in his lifetime. In reference to that, Bob found the original data he used for a 1976 article surveying trainers on various aspects of the industry for the opening session of the 14th Annual Training and Performance Solutions Conference in Bloomington, Minn. In a session entitled “The World is Changing—or is it?” Bob compared the data from then to data he received in an informal survey of 500 colleagues that ended September 25. Liz Wheeler Bob Pike became an Eagle Scout in the early 1960s, the highest rank a boy scout can achieve. To earn the rank, a scout has to earn 21 merit badges, show responsibility in a position of leadership, and perform service projects. The scout motto is “Be prepared.” We asked Bob, “In regard to training, what does being prepared mean?” Liz Wheeler Managers before training have the number one responsibility for making sure training sticks; however, getting manager buy-in can be difficult. What ways have you found to effectively get managers enthusiastic about sending staff to training and becoming involved in making sure training transfers?

As I read industry journals, ezines, e-letters and press releases, I come across dozens of websites that have relevant information that can help trainers become even better at what they do. So now there is a site where you can see my favorite training “bookmarks” and you can add your favorite training sites to mine. MINNEAPOLIS – (Mar. 6, 2007) Can sales people sell more by disqualifying prospects more quickly and efficiently? The answer is an unqualified “yes” according to the presenters of the Sales Autopsy workshop, a two-day course in breakthrough selling strategies that will be held April 26-27 in the Chicago area.
“Every other sales program does a great job at teaching people how to qualify prospects,” says Dan Seidman, Chicago-based author of the best-selling business book “Sales Autopsy” and presenter of the workshop. “We show sales pros how to increase their productivity by actively seeking to disqualify those prospects who are least likely to buy from them.”
