Celebration Closes 2007 Conference
By Liz Wheeler
Betsy Allen, The Bob Pike Group senior vice president, and Becky Pluth, BPG Consultant, closed the 14th Annual Training and Performance Solutions Conference with an ACT—Action planning, Celebrating and a sense of Tying things together.
During the closing session, the 225 conference delegates had an opportunity to outline a level three evaluation for themselves—on-the-job application. BPG consultants were gathered around the room to help polish the evaluations and make sure they met the SMART goals--Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-based goals.
Then, to revisit and celebrate, Pluth and Allen (or Pat Sajak and Vanna White as Doug McCallum called them) grouped the participants into five teams with team leaders gathering by buzzers. Using GameShow Pro technology, the teams then competed in Question Bowl.
Shawna Rowley from Weber State University and Selene Marckwort of Marckwort Kouluttajat Consultants each received prize packages worth nearly $300 for submitting their best practice tips for future publication in the Creative Training Techniques newsletter.
The 2008 conference dates are September 29 through October 3 in Minneapolis.
